Enhancing Success Through 9 Competencies

This course is designed to move Latent Leaders to the next level by utilizing cases studies, small group discussions, and interactive simulations to become an Advanced Leader. The Advanced Leader curriculum is adaptable for Higher Education, Tribes, and Corporate Clients.  Completion of this course requires demonstration and mastery of the following competencies:

Approachability

True leaders are approachable. You want employees and/or organization members to feel comfortable talking to you. This allows you can keep the channels of communication open. Approachability is having people feel comfortable bringing either good news or bad news and having a leader who will listen to them.

Building Effective Teams

Building effective teams is more than forming, storming, norming, and performing. Leaders must be able to identify team member strengths and weaknesses, have that conversation with the group to place members in appropriate roles. In addition, leaders are able to identify areas of growth, "level" the team, and benchmark optimal productivity.

Business Acumen

The leader's ability to quickly analyze a business scenario, make a sound and consistent decision that will likely lead to a positive outcome for the business or organization. Other elements that support solid business acumen include the ability to produce and analyze financial documents and implement strategies to support overall business operations.

Composure

In any organization crisis will arise. When crisis or unforeseen circumstances interrupt business operations, people immediate watch the reaction of the leader(s). When challenges arise, the leader must employ behaviors to keep calm, diffuse situations, and provide messages of inspiration to comfort followers.

Conflict Management

Did you know that 83% of US workers are stressed? Stress results in as much as $300 billion in lost productivity? One Million employees miss work each day because of stress. It's not surprising that conflict happens at work each day. The leader is responsible for mediating conflict resulting in positive outcomes for all parties involved.

Decision Quality

Each day leaders are charged with making the best decision. This usually means making 7-12 best decisions each day. Leaders must factor in the cost, value, and impact of every decision made.

Managing Diversity

There are seven age generations currently in the workplace. Not to mention, regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, protected veteran or disabled status, or genetic information. Effective leaders include everyone, in all aspects of team development and growth.

Negotiating

Negotiation occurs in sales and legal proceedings, and in personal situations such as marriage, divorce, and parenting. Negotiation occurs when two or more people or parties intended to reach a beneficial outcome over one or more issues to achieve a mutually beneficial outcome for everyone.

Organizational Agility

The capability of a a leader to rapidly change or adapt in response to market variations. A high degree of organizational agility can help leaders of a company or organization to react successfully to the emergence of new competitors, the development of new industry-changing technologies, or sudden shifts in overall market conditions.
